FACTest Additives Profile 24 additives

Food intolerance is difficult to detect, often involving common foods, and can be an important factor in many acute and chronic conditions. Symptoms may range from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), muscle and joint aches, fatigue, weight problems, hyperactivity, skin irritations and anxiety.

This FACT profile measures reactions to 24 of the most common additives, including colourings, flavourings and preservatives and are covered in this direct cellular assay that can detect allergies caused by a number of different processes. These include specific allergic (IgE) reactions and food  sensitivity (non-IgE mediated) reactions such as those produced by histamine and leukotriene release.

The test also measures the release of chemical mediators from white blood cells once they have been stimulated and incubated with the food allergens, making this a direct and therefore very accurate assessment of allergies and intolerances.
