Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular Therapy is a physical hands on therapy which provides treatment of both soft tissue pain & injury. It can assist and alleviate with the treatment of acute or chronic discomfort of both muscular and myofacial pain. The treatment is administered through direct manipulation of the soft tissues as well as focusing on deactivating Trigger Points. Trigger Points are tender points in soft tissues which will result in a pain referral pattern. In other words – a pain in the face and the neck, may actually be caused by Trigger Points in the muscles of the neck. Trigger Points are a result of numerous factors including: Stress, Anxiety, Over use, Misuse, Trauma & Poor Posture – to name but a few. Neuromuscular Therapy encourages & assists the body to return to its natural state of Homeostasis, as well as improving the functions of both the muscles & the Joints.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
There are certain conditions where Neuromuscular Therapy may not also be administered. Please make sure to inform your practitioner if you now or ever have suffered from any of the following.
- Anemia
- Arthritis
- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Embolisms
- Fever
- Heart Problems
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Open Wounds
- Osteoporosis
- Pregnancy
- Skin Problems
- Paralysis Tumors
- Tingling Especially in Hands Or Feet
- Varicose Veins
The reason these need to be disclosed is due to the fact that Neuromuscular Therapy is Deep Tissue Work & not suitable at all times for the above contraindications, however as massage is therapeutic for most of the above conditions, once forewarned, the treatment can be offered as a light therapeutic treatment.
Referrals will be made on advice of the practitioner if treatment cannot be offered.
